Amy Wain Stevens Blanchard was a member of the Le Souvenir yearbook staff and earned her bachelor of arts in mass communications from Southeastern in 1999.
Those who knew Amy will always remember her radiant smile, joyful spirit and her passion for capturing life’s moments through her camera lens. It was rare to see her on campus without it, ever eager to preserve the memories that mattered most.
In 2000, Amy joined Freeman Decorating Co., a leading global event agency, where she worked in exhibitor services in New Orleans and Atlanta before moving to the company’s corporate office in Dallas.
Amy, a native of Ponchatoula, was beloved by her colleagues and brought warmth, dedication, and laughter to every role she held. She served as a bridesmaid in the wedding of friend and SLU journalism graduate Stacey Plaisance Jenkins.
In 2006, Amy married the love of her life, Craig Blanchard, and together they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Kennedy and Adalynn.
Amy later battled metastatic breast cancer for 5 ½ years with incredible courage and grace, before her death on Aug. 13, 2018, at the age of 42. Her daughters were 8 and 7 years old at the time.
She was survived by her proud parents, Wayne and Starr Stevens; sisters Christina Stevens O’Neal and Kirby Stevens; a nice and two nephews.
She was buried in Rosaryville Cemetery in Ponchatoula.
